The Ukrainian World Congress has curated a collection of photographs showcasing prominent leaders and figures from various parts of the world sporting Vyshyvankas.
In the Canadian Parliament, on May 16, numerous individuals could be spotted wearing Vyshyvankas as a display of support for Ukraine during the ongoing conflict with Russia. Canadian Member of Parliament Yvan Baker emphasized the significance of the embroidered shirt, stating that it represents tradition, culture, and serves as a symbol of resistance against Russia’s aggression. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau echoed these sentiments, expressing pride in wearing the Vyshyvanka and showing solidarity with Ukraine.
Across the globe, notable personalities joined in the Vyshyvanka Day celebrations. Australia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Richard Marles, was among the first to participate, showcasing his support for Ukrainian culture. The Parliament of the State of Victoria in Australia also witnessed the honoring of Ukrainian heritage, with politicians from various parties coming together to commemorate Vyshyvanka Day.
Further afield, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda and his wife Diana Nausėdienė donned traditional Ukrainian embroidered shirts in solidarity with Ukraine.
