In Omaha’s Gene Leahy Mall, a new sculpture has been unveiled, replacing the previous piece by Richard Hunt titled Planar and Tubular. Hunt, a celebrated artist known for his significant contributions to the art world, passed away recently, leaving behind a legacy of remarkable creations. The new sculpture, crafted by Pittsburgh-born artist Linda Fleming, now graces the mall’s sculpture garden, captivating visitors with its intricate design and unique beauty.
Linda Fleming, a renowned American artist, has gained recognition for her exceptional work displayed across the country. The sculpture, entitled „Portent,“ is a stunning example of her talent and artistic vision. Additionally, Fleming’s piece „Helios“ has also been on exhibit at the mall, showcasing her exploration of physics, matter, and structure through the art form.
Dr. Jacqueline Scoones, the executive director of Kaneko, emphasized the importance of public art in Omaha, highlighting the valuable opportunity it provides for the community to engage with and appreciate artistic expressions. The sculptures at Gene Leahy Mall offer a unique cultural experience, enriching the city’s landscape with creativity and inspiration.
With a total of five art installations in the mall’s sculpture garden, each piece contributes to the vibrant atmosphere and enriches the urban environment.
