Ministerpräsident Daniel Günther fordert von Bundeskanzler Scholz stärkere Maßnahmen zur Begrenzung der Migration

Schleswig-Holstein’s Minister President Daniel Günther, a member of the CDU, has called on Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz of the SPD to increase efforts to limit migration to Germany. Günther emphasized that while measures to limit and control immigration have been agreed upon by the federal government and states, the implementation is not progressing rapidly or consistently enough.

The introduction of controls at the borders with Switzerland, the Czech Republic, and Poland has significantly reduced illegal migration figures, but Günther believes that border protection alone is insufficient. He stressed the need for more repatriation and migration agreements, stating that this should be a top priority for Chancellor Scholz to negotiate, rather than delegating the task to a government representative.

Günther also highlighted the importance of accelerating the return of individuals who are required to leave the country and increasing the asylum procedures at the European external borders. Additionally, he proposed conducting more asylum procedures in third countries to deter individuals from embarking on the journey to Europe.

The Minister President acknowledged that there are no simple solutions to limit migration, cautioning against the false promises made by populists. He emphasized the necessity for action, as evidenced by the results of the European elections. Günther’s call for increased efforts to manage migration reflects the ongoing challenges faced by Germany and the European Union in addressing this complex issue.
