Paderborn County explores additional locations for special education campus

Officials in Paderborn County are currently examining potential sites for a new special education campus that would bring together the Astrid Lindgren School in Salzkotten and the Erich Kästner School in Paderborn. The goal is to create a centralized hub that can better serve students with diverse learning needs.

The decision to explore additional locations comes after the initial plan to build the campus in Borchen faced challenges due to the limited availability of land for development. As a result, the municipality had to negotiate the shared use of a multifunctional space for the secondary school’s lunch program, a critical component identified in the municipality’s school development plan.

In light of the growing demand for specialized educational facilities, the county recognizes the importance of providing tailored support for students with disabilities and learning difficulties.
