Internationale Fans feiern Leverkusens historischen Meistertitel vor Ort

International fans of Bayer 04 Leverkusen around the world celebrated the team’s historic championship win, not just in the Rheinland region but also in places like Mexico, the United States, and Kuwait. Some of these international fans were present for the handing over of the first championship trophy at the BayArena, capturing their emotional stories in a video.

One such fan is Carter, a 17-year-old born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, who now resides in St. Louis, Missouri, with a significant portion of his life spent in Leverkusen, Germany. Carter’s family held season tickets for Bayer 04 games, which led him to develop a deep connection with the club. Overcoming language barriers at a young age through football and the support of Bayer 04, Carter continues to avidly follow the team, even attending the opening of Leverkusen’s new stadium in St. Louis last summer. To celebrate his team’s first-ever title, Carter traveled to Leverkusen for the 34th matchday and witnessed the trophy presentation live at the BayArena.

Another fan, Aléxis Raúl Espinal Soria, 22 years old, studying Chemical Engineering in Mexico City, developed a love for German football at a young age, particularly inspired by the 2006 World Cup in Germany. He embarked on learning German as a child and found a fascination with Leverkusen, partly due to Bayer AG’s aspirin and the presence of Mexican striker Javier „Chicharito“ Hernández in the team. Aléxis aspires to work for Bayer in Germany one day and made his first trip to Leverkusen for the 34th matchday, witnessing the team receive their first championship trophy.

Saad Alrumaidhi, a 28-year-old Kuwaiti, founder of the FC Kuwait City Academy, and one of only two Leverkusen fans from Kuwait City, has been a Bundesliga enthusiast for over a decade. His love for Leverkusen stems from the team’s dynamic attacking style of play over the years. Managing the social media account @Bayer4Arab, Saad gained 5,000 new followers during Leverkusen’s historic season, fulfilling his dream of witnessing the team win the championship and being present in the stadium for the trophy ceremony led by Xabi Alonso and his squad.

Additionally, a family affair, Michael, 41 years old, and Brigitte, 75, from Eltvilla am Rhein, near Mainz and Wiesbaden, have been loyal supporters of Bayer 04 Leverkusen for nearly 30 years. Attending almost every game, Michael’s first match in 1996 marked a memorable victory that saved the team from relegation. Over the years, Brigitte transformed from her son’s taxi driver to a passionate fan, sharing the highs and lows of the club’s journey. Together, they celebrated the team’s historic Bundesliga title win in 2024, remaining devoted fans through thick and thin.
