Neuer inklusiver Spielplatz und nachhaltige Projekte in Uslar – Leader-Programm fördert lokale Initiativen

EU-Funds Empower Two New Projects in Northeim District

Bringing new opportunities and inclusivity to the Northeim district, two exciting Leader projects have been granted a total of 106,000 euros in funding. This initiative involves the city of Uslar, alongside the counties of Göttingen and Northeim, impressing the Local Action Group Harzweserland (LAG) with their innovative plans.

An inclusive playground, inspired by the historic Schloss Freudenthal that once stood near the Uslar town hall, is set to become a reality. Mayor Torsten Bauer expressed his enthusiasm for the project, highlighting its significance as a pioneering endeavor within the district. The playground, designed to be highly inclusive, will cater to individuals with various impairments. Local experts are actively contributing to the planning process, with a total project cost of 125,000 euros, 88,800 of which will be covered by the Leader program.

Simultaneously, under the theme „Our Village Lives Sustainably,“ the second project focuses on promoting sustainability within villages through a cross-county competition.

Continuing a series of successful initiatives, the counties of Göttingen and Northeim aim to support villages with innovative ideas aligning with the 17 global UN Sustainable Development Goals. With a budget of 17,300 euros from Harzweserland, the project facilitates two evening events, offering assistance to up to three villages in each Leader region to enhance and implement their ideas.

Prepared for launch in September pending approval from the Leader regions Göttinger Land and Osterode am Harz, LAG Chair Julia Gogrewe emphasizes the importance of translating UN Sustainable Development Goals into local actions, strengthening community engagement.

Furthermore, the ongoing support from Leader and the Culture and Heritage Foundation of the county, such as the renovation of the historic Ratskeller in Moringen by the Ratskeller 1489 e.V., showcases the tangible impact of EU investments at a local level.

Looking ahead, discussions are underway to potentially fund the construction of an elevator and stair tower in cooperation with other funding programs to ensure barrier-free access to the event venues. With 1.1 million euros allocated for Leader projects until 2027, interested parties are encouraged to submit funding applications by the upcoming deadlines on August 8th and December 12th.
