In Offenbach, a 45-year-old man decided to defy a parking boot attached to his vehicle by the police. Despite the visibly worn tire and the immobilization device, he chose to continue driving, even under the influence of alcohol. The authorities were alerted by a truck driver who witnessed the Fiat Ducato with a Turkish license plate leaving the Weiskirchen Nord rest area against all odds. The police had taken preventive measures earlier in the day due to the worn tire, but the driver failed to comply with the instructions.
Upon arriving at the scene in Langenselbold, the officers found the park boot broken and damage to the vehicle and the road surface. The driver was later discovered sitting in his vehicle with a makeshift attempt to conceal the broken device. A subsequent breath alcohol test revealed a high level of 2.14 per mille, indicating his incapacity to continue the journey to Belgium, where he originally set off from Istanbul with the intention of transporting plastic shelves.
The police filed charges against the individual for driving under the influence and property damage, in addition to conducting a blood test. Once the security deposit is paid and his ability to drive restored, the driver will be allowed to resume his journey. This incident is a reminder of a similar case from the previous year involving a 19-year-old from Langenselbold who, despite his honesty after causing an accident while driving under the influence, had his driver’s license reinstated early.
