Brandenburg trend: AFD continues to decline – new survey reveals clear winner
Recently, a new survey on the upcoming Brandenburg state election has uncovered significant shifts in voter preferences. With the elections fast approaching, the question arises: Could Woidke continue his government?
In a twist of fate, the Alternative for Germany (AfD) faces losses in the latest survey, while the Alliance for Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW) sees a remarkable surge in support.
According to the current Brandenburg-Trend by the Institute Infratest dimap for RBB, Brandenburg aktuell, and Antenne Brandenburg, the AfD remains at the top of the voter preference with 23%, but has lost nine percentage points since September, when the party stood at 32%.
The Social Democratic Party (SPD) led by Minister-President Dietmar Woidke and the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) are tied for second place, each with 19%. The rise of the Alliance for Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW) is noteworthy, as they now hold the third position with 16%, gaining six percentage points compared to the April survey.
The Greens have seven percent of the vote, while the Left Party and the Free Democratic Party (FDP) are currently below the five percent threshold with four percent and three percent, respectively. If the results on September 22 match the current forecast, the current coalition of SPD, CDU, and Greens could continue governing, as they would hold 45% compared to AfD and BSW’s combined 39%.
The Brandenburg-Trend survey, conducted from July 4th to July 9th, included 1,153 eligible voters from Brandenburg and is considered representative of the population.
