Neue Partei Bündnis Sahra Wagenknecht plant Gründung in Brandenburg

Bündnis Sahra Wagenknecht: Neue politische Kraft in Brandenburg entsteht

The Bündnis Sahra Wagenknecht is set to establish itself in Brandenburg, with plans for formation in May. Co-chair Amira Mohamed Ali revealed that the founding is expected to take place on the 25th of May, though some organizational aspects still require attention. Despite lacking a regional association, the party has consistently shown promising numbers in Brandenburgs electoral surveys since November, ranging between 4 to 11 percent. A recent April poll conducted by Infratest dimap for the RBB indicated a support level of 10 percent for the BSW.

The party aims to participate in the upcoming Brandenburg state election on the 22nd of September and has already established regional branches in Saxony and Thuringia, where new state parliaments will be elected in the fall. However, during the local elections on the 9th of June, the Bündnis Sahra Wagenknecht will not stand independently but rather form alliances. Chancellor Olaf Scholz voiced his negative stance on a potential coalition between the SPD and BSW, emphasizing substantial barriers to such cooperation in a statement addressed to the „Märkische Allgemeine Zeitung“ back in March.

A notable figure within the party, Stefan Roth, formerly a Left Party member in Brandenburg, now serving as a member of the Federal Executive Committee, highlighted the BSWs intention to bridge the existing political void in the party spectrum in Brandenburg and offer voters an alternative to traditional political factions like the coalition, CDU, and AfD. Political analyst Jan Philipp Thomeczek from Potsdam also recognizes substantial potential for the Bündnis Sahra Wagenknecht in the current political landscape, heralding a potentially significant impact on the upcoming elections.
