In Dachau, a region in Upper Bavaria, the state of emergency has been declared due to critical flood developments in the municipality of Petershausen and the tense situation in other communities. This decision was made by Landrat Stefan Löwl (CSU) in the early hours of Sunday morning. The local authorities are overwhelmed with numerous emergency situations that need to be addressed promptly, prompting the declaration of a state of emergency to allow for additional support from outside the region.
Along with Dachau, the state of emergency has been extended to ten other districts, including Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm, Augsburg, Schrobenhausen, Dillingen, Freising, Donau-Ries, Unterallgäu, Günzburg, Aichach-Friedberg, and Neu-Ulm. This widespread declaration points to the severity of the flood situation across Bavaria and the urgent need for coordinated emergency response measures.
During the night, water levels rose significantly along the Glonn, Maisach, and Amper rivers in the Dachau district. In Petershausen, a significant part of the town has been inundated, leading to the rescue of approximately a dozen individuals from flooded areas. Authorities are preparing for further evacuations as more than 50 residential buildings in Petershausen alone are affected by the flooding. As a precautionary measure, an asylum accommodation adjacent to the Glonn river was evacuated the previous evening to ensure the safety of its occupants.
