Revolution im E-Bike-Markt: Neuer ZF Centrix Motor beeindruckt mit Innovation und Leistung

ZF Centrix E-Bike Motor: Revolutionizing the E-MTB Industry

The unveiling of the ZF Centrix E-bike motor at the Eurobike event in Frankfurt has sent ripples of excitement through the cycling community. This new entrant boasts an impressive 90 Newton-meters of torque, all while weighing a mere 2.5 kilograms. Such a high power-to-weight ratio has never been seen before in the industry. With a diameter of 88 millimeters, the circular motor is remarkably compact, with the manufacturer even likening it to the size of a 0.33-liter beverage can.

Notably, ZF isn’t new to the E-bike scene, having been part of the Sachs Micro Mobility joint venture back in 2018. After acquiring all shares of the company, ZF has now introduced the groundbreaking ZF Centrix motor, showcasing their commitment to innovation in the electric bike sector.

The Cutting-Edge Technology of the ZF Centrix Drive

The ZF Bike Eco System sets itself apart with its 48-volt power supply, a step up from the conventional 36-volt systems. The circular design of the motor draws comparisons to TQ’s motors like the HPR50 and HPR120, offering a more efficient and compact internal configuration. This innovative approach promises reduced noise from gearbox and freewheel mechanisms, thanks to a unique round gear setup similar to TQ’s Harmonic Pinring, enhancing the overall riding experience.

ZF Bike Eco System: Batteries and Controls

The ZF Centrix comes with two battery options – 504 or 756 watt-hours – which are mounted using a cutting-edge rail system within the downtube. The Core Controller housed in the toptube provides riders with essential information through an LED circular display, and additional accessories like a remote or high-resolution color touchscreen display can be integrated at the handlebars for added functionality.

Innovatively, ZF’s Core Controller features a magnetic interface that enables third-party devices like smartphones to be charged effortlessly, catering to the tech-savvy rider.

Bikes Featuring the ZF Centrix E-Bike Motor

While production models featuring the ZF Centrix are yet to hit the market, Raymon has teased the Tarok Ultra for the 2025 model year, which will showcase the cutting-edge motor. The Tarok Ultra boasts a full carbon frame with 160mm of suspension travel and a Mullet setup for optimal trail performance. Launching in early 2025 in three different configurations, the Tarok Ultra is set to showcase the capabilities of the ZF motor in real-world riding scenarios.

Conclusion on the ZF Centrix

With the ZF Centrix promising groundbreaking performance figures, the E-MTB industry is on the brink of a new era. However, beyond the impressive specs, factors like ride feel, power delivery, and overall user experience will be crucial in determining the motor’s success in the market. With a major player like ZF backing this innovation, the cycling world eagerly awaits the arrival of this potential game-changer.
