DFB-Pokal Start: Bayerns neuer Trainer wird live im Free-TV debütieren

Bayern Munich’s new coach, Vincent Kompany, will make his competitive debut at the start of the 1st round of the DFB-Pokal on August 16th. The opening match of the record cup winners against second-division promoted SSV Ulm will be broadcast live on free-to-air television as one of four first-round games (8:45 pm/CET on ZDF and Sky). Additionally, three more games are scheduled for Fridays, with a total of 26 more matches set from Saturday noon to Monday night.

The matches between Supercup participants VfB Stuttgart and Bayer Leverkusen will take place as planned just over a week later. Double winners Bayer will face Carl-Zeiss Jena on August 28th at an unusually early time (6 pm/CET on ZDF and Sky) due to the evening opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games in Paris.

Stuttgart will play against second-division promoted Preußen Münster one day prior (8:45 pm/CET on ARD and Sky). The game between Eintracht Frankfurt and Eintracht Braunschweig will be broadcast on Monday, August 19th (8:45 pm/CET on ARD and Sky) as well.

Other notable matches include Borussia Dortmund playing against 1. FC Phoenix Lübeck on August 17th at 6 pm/CET, RB Leipzig facing RW Essen, and the previous season’s finalist 1. FC Kaiserslautern taking on FC Ingolstadt, all at 3:30 pm/CET. All 32 first-round matches will be broadcast on Sky.
