Heute findet in Essen der Eon-Firmenlauf statt, an dem 13.500 Läuferinnen und Läufer teilnehmen. Die Strecke verläuft durch Rüttenscheid und das Südviertel. Die Huyssenallee bildet den Startpunkt des Laufs. Wegen der Veranstaltung werden verschiedene Straßen gesperrt, darunter Rüttenscheider Straße, Magdalenenstraße, Ursulastraße, Grugaplatz und Wittekindstraße. Die Huyssenallee wird ab 15 Uhr gesperrt sein, die anderen Straßen werden ab 17.45 Uhr vollständig gesperrt sein. Die Läufer starten in drei Wellen vor der Philharmonie und das Ziel ist die Tummelwiese im Grugapark, wo eine After-Run-Party stattfindet.
