Pilling, also known as the formation of small knots on clothing, is a common issue that can make favorite garments look worn out quickly. With the rise of social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram, various „life hacks“ have emerged to address this problem, offering simple and inexpensive solutions. One such hack involves using a disposable razor to shave off the fabric pills.
To test the effectiveness of this hack, we conducted a Hack-Check. The method involves laying the garment flat on a hard surface, such as a table or the floor, pulling the fabric taut, and gently running the razor over the affected area until the pills are removed.
Works Well for Small Areas
Our findings revealed that the razor hack works well for small areas, such as sleeves. However, when attempting to use the razor on an entire garment, it becomes a laborious task and may require multiple razor blades. For larger areas, specialized lint removers may be a more efficient solution.
